Yellow-Rattle
Rhinanthus crista-galli
West Penjajawoc Grasslands, Bangor
Joined sepals form a "flat bladderlike envelope" at the base of the flower which is inflated when fruiting. Later, the seeds trapped inside the bladders shake like a baby's rattle. The upper part of the envelope is often beautifully highlighted with a hint of red. Photo by Donne Sinderson
