Lucie Estabrook, PresidentLucie is the Chief Executive Officer at Birchbrook. She earned a B.S. in Accounting from Husson University and is a Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA). Lucie grew up in the fields and forests of Aroostook County and enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, and relaxing at camp. She made Bangor her home in 1989 and values its sense of community and proximity to Maine’s coasts and wilderness.

Jim Contino, Vice PresidentJim joined the BLT Board in 2023 after a 40-year career in the Forest Products Business. He is trained as a Professional Forester and grew up as a kid who loved to hike and explore the forests of the Catskill Mountain region of New York. He brings to the Board valuable experiences in forestry, sawmilling, supply chain management and multiple use land use. He has a strong land stewardship ethic and actively promotes the conservation and wise use of the many values found in our forest preserves. He has been a Bangor resident for the past 25 years but has lived and worked in many of the forested regions of the USA.

Andrew Czwakiel, SecretaryAndrew joined the board in 2024. He is a graduate of the University of Maine with a B.S. in Ecology and Environmental Science. Andrew currently works in the Blue Hill peninsula region as a Land Steward with Blue Hill Heritage Trust. Having worked with multiple non-profit land conservation organizations since 2020, he brings multiple years of land trust experience with him along with a valuable land stewardship ethic, and trail building and land management experience.

James W. Hinds, TreasurerJim was born and raised in Waterville, Maine. He holds a B.A. from Williams College, 1963 and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, 1968. Jim was a neuroscientist at Boston University School of Medicine from 1967-1983 and was a certified public accountant here in Bangor until 2011. He is interested in land conservation, wilderness hiking, birdwatching, botanizing, and the scientific study of lichens. Jim is a Founding Board Member.

Brian AhernBrian is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and early in his career served as an officer in the Merchant Marine. For the past 35 years, Brian has worked in the power industry beginning with Northeast Engineering in Bucksport and completing numerous projects with Northeast including the commissioning of Greenville Steam Company. Brian owned and operated his own Energy consulting firm which completed several projects both internationally and domestically. Brian is currently the Plant Manager at the Casco Bay Energy Facility in Veazie, Maine. Brian and his wife Danielle are active members of Saint Paul’s Parish in Bangor and enjoy all outdoor activities in Bangor and the surrounding areas with their 4 children.

Kevin AllcroftKevin Allcrofit is consulting forester who owns his own forestry business (Forestree Concepts) with a mission of working with landowners to help them achieve their goals. He writes long-term forest management plans – beginning with an inventory, then identifying short and long term goals relating to forest sustainability, recreation, water protection and wildlife. He also has experience working with the Boy Scouts and other community groups. Some years ago, as an Orrington Selectman he participated as a stakeholder in the creation of the Penobscot Valley Community Greenprint.

Brandon KeimBrandon Keim is a science journalist specializing in nature and animals. His latest book, Meet the Neighbors: Animal Minds and Life in a More-Than-Human World, is about animal personhood and our relationships to wild animals and to nature. His work has appeared in publications including the New York Times, The Atlantic, WIRED, and Nautilus.

Steve NortonSteve Norton is a sound artist, musician, researcher and educator living in Orono, Maine. He is focused on understanding the world by listening to it. His practice has shifted from music performance to field recording and soundscape composition over the last decade, tapping into his life-long interest in biology, ecology and the outdoors. Steve holds a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston and a Master of Fine Arts in Intermedia from the University of Maine. He is co-founder of the Island Soundscape Project, whose mission is to introduce the soundscape as an aspect of land conservation.

Tim HudsonTim joined our board after a 50+ year career with the National Park Service. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. His experience is mainly in rural, natural parks in park operations and facility maintenance and development. He lived and worked in Alaska three different times and spent 31 years in Yellowstone – most in charge of all of the roads, trails, buildings, and water and sewage systems in the park. He finished his career as the first superintendent of Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument in Maine. He moved to Maine in 2013 from Alaska. He has extensive experience in all facets of managing public lands while protecting resources for a positive visitor experience.

Cody HaynesCody joined our board in 2025. Originally from Winn in northern Penobscot County, he has always had an appreciation for Maine's natural beauty. He holds a degree in Business from Eastern Maine Community College and currently works as an Associate Broker for the Maine Outdoor Properties Team at Realty of Maine. In his spare time, Cody enjoys spending time with his beloved Arabian horses at his family's farm. He lives in Hampden with his husband Zack.
