Primrose Moth
Schinia florida
West Penjajawoc Grasslands, Bangor, Maine
Shirley Ellis found this moth during the Wildflower Walk last month. I thought it was a rosy maple moth at first because of the similar coloring but further inspection and research named it primrose. Their host is the evening primrose seed capsules and they are often found on evening primrose flowers during the day. The bright lime green eyes look like an out there, mothy fashion statement.
