The limbs of Eastern White Pain grow in horizontal whorls. The
needles are 2 to 4 inches long, flexible, and occur 5 "to a bundle." The cones are 3 to 6 inches long, slender, tapering and long-stalked. The bark is a dark grayish-brown and has deep furrows.
