From Newcomb's Wildflower Guide: Low, weak-stemmed plant, the 5 leaflets toothed for three-quarters of their length. Flowers 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide, growing on long stalks from the axils. 3-24 " long. Fields and open woods. Spring and early summer.
