In January, Tim Godaire contacted us about a nonprofit organization called Climate Ride that organizes life-changing charitable events to raise awareness and support sustainability, active transportation, and environmental causes. Through multi-day hikes and bicycle rides, participants raise money for beneficiaries of their choosing (and who have been approved by the folks at Climate Ride). As a regular participant in Pedal the Penobscot, Tim is familiar with Bangor Land Trust and wanted to support us. We did the research, applied to be a beneficiary, and were approved on May 4, 2015.
This year Climate Ride is coming to the Northeast with a 5-day ride from Bar Harbor to Boston. Tim signed up and has been busy fundraising. He currently has just over $3000 toward his $4000 goal! Here’s a paragraph from his fundraising page:
As a student studying climate science I am aware of the urgency and need for climate action, community awareness, and alternative sources of energy and transportation. Participating in the Climate Ride Northeast allows me to raise funds for organizations that address these particular issues within my local community and on a national scale. My financial impact and personal experience is greatly enhanced through an extended ride across states I love and causes sincere to me.
Bangor Land Trust applauds Tim Godaire for his efforts. This land trust is delighted to be listed as a beneficiary with Climate Ride. Their events are well organized and environmentally themed. Here are a few of their upcoming events:
2015 Rides & Hikes
Climate Hike in Glacier National Park | August 24-28, 2015
The NEW Climate Ride Northeast - Bar Harbor to Boston | Sept 17-21, 2015
Climate Ride Midwest | Sept 27-30, 2015
Climate Hike Bryce-Zion | Oct 6-10, 2015
Have a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend!
