Last year about this time someone left this White-footed Mouse (Peromyscus leucopus) near my home in Orrington. It was after a day of warmer weather that must have been a good day for hunting. I thought that it may have been the prey of Northern Shrike (Lanius excubitor) because Jerry Smith reported seeing one three miles down the road at about that same time. Shrike normally impale mice on the branch for later retrieval, but in this case impaling wasn't necessary. The mouse was laid over the branch and the icy rain we received locked it into place when the temperature dropped.
